granny style, but i love it.

so, i caved.  i thought i stood firmly against midi skirts - not because i didn't like them, but because i wasn't convinced i could pull them off on my 5'2" frame - but it turns out i was only firm until i found one that fit well.  is it the best cut or style for me?  i don't know, but with a great floral print, and a price tag of a massive $3, i knew this baby was going to be mine.

shirt: h&m (i actually typed shit at first, but luckily i caught myself) // skirt: vintage/thrifted // sandals: aldo // bag: vintage/thrifted

i also have two other vintage midi skirts that i originally got with the intention of hemming up to knee length (but actually getting around to alterations can take anywhere from a week to 6 years), but after wearing this skirt and realizing that unlike shorter skirts, midi skirts aren't at all dangerous or pervert magnets on windy days, i think i'm going to keep them just like they are!

also, EXCITING NEWS!!!  if you didn't win the watercolor portrait i gave away last week, you needn't worry, because HERE'S ANOTHER GIVEAWAY!  beca was sweet enough to host a giveaway for a custom pet portrait on her blog, so if you haven't entered yet, be sure to go do it because it ends tomorrow!  and speaking of giveaways, i'll be having one here tomorrow, so be sure to come back and see what you could win!

  1. I've felt the same way for a long time. I guess it just takes finding the right one. This is adorable!

  3. I'm about 5ft 3 (and a UK16) and have the same problem with skirts - sometimes I look a funny shape if they are too long and I don't have the legs to carry off shorter than about knee length lol.

also- i laughed out loud when i read this, "(i actually typed shit at first, but luckily i caught myself)." ooo the irony :)

  8. This one really is perfect for you. I think the key is wearing a show with a little heel cuz granny most likely would not wear heels! Looks very pretty on you!

  9. I tried on a maxi shirt the other day on my 5'2" tall body and I looked ridiculous (in my opinion) I'll get over it someday.

I am really admiring your work lately! Water colors and jewelry. I tried to make a water color for my dad for his birthday but I failed. I still gave it to him though. Next time I will come to you.

  11. Now don't go telling people about this second giveaway, you're ruining my chances at winning!!

I absolutely love this skirt, and honestly, probably would have passed it up at the thrift store because I would have been scared I couldn't style around it. You make it look so young and fresh!

Oh, and I've totally typed shit for shirt before while commenting on someone's blog... as well as boobs for boots. That one was weird.

  14. Hmm, I am on the same timeline when it comes to alterations. Good to know :) This skirt looks so great on you and it's making me want to give the midi skirt another try. I'm 5'4" and I felt like they swallowed me but seeing you in it inspires me to give it another go... Great score!!
